Building on the success of last year’s inaugural Future Thinking Workshop, this year’s event was explosive and packed with even more innovative and ground-breaking trend thinking. Moving beyond trend watching and going even deeper to the center of where trends begin, the Workshop was led by Per Nimer, Design Manager with Akzo Nobel and Peggy Van Allen, Owner of Chicago-based Colorfuel. The Workshop featured 3 Guest Speakers including designer, writer, inquisitive trend analyst and celebrated international speakers, Mark Woodman of mark woodman color + design,, Paula Leonard, Founder of Hü Designs, and Montaha Hidefi, TIGER Drylac Canada.
Participants engaged in a variety of hands-on color exercises taught by experts and long standing CMG members. This session was designed to arm participants with solutions that fit their role in the industry which in turn will make their job more successful and rewarding!
In this Workshop first time Summit attendees and new members were encouraged to unleash the power of color by leveraging collective experience and knowledge – the essence of what Color Marketing Group is all about. Participants learned why Color Marketing Group is one of the most influential color forecasting associations in the world and experienced how CMG developed the World Color Forecast™ by integrating the international ChromaZones.
Finally this year’s Summit recognized the retirement of several long-standing members including immediate past President John West of J & J Marketing and Past President, Hall Dillon, a CMG Member for 31 years.
The Group appointed Judith Van Vliet from Clariant Plastics & Coatings as President. Van Vliet is the first CMG President from Europe.
The Group also welcomed a myriad of new members, including myself and I also had the opportunity to facilitate one of the 5 Teams of the CMF Workshop coordinated by Narss Lapinid. All feedbacks received on trends and colors in the US will be very useful for my daily job and support customers to make the right color choices.
